“What color should I choose for my Prom Suit?” Have you thought about this question before? Your prom is one of the most important days of your life. That’s why it is a must to purchase the suitable prom attire. It doesn’t have to be the most expensive attire, but it should sure look good on you.
There are many options when it comes to prom attire. You can pick a Tuxedo, a Three-piece suit, a two-piece suit, single-breasted or double-breasted. If you are not familiar with these, don’t worry, I’ll go through them, then talk about the best color options.
Suit or Tuxedo for Prom Attire?
Often, one of the first questions guys today ask when thinking about what to wear to their prom is whether they should choose a suit or a tuxedo. To be honest, there are no strict rules when it comes to prom attire as long as it is formal, and the mentioned two is probably the most formalistic option you can wear. If you are unfamiliar with the different suit options, I’ll describe them in the following.

What is a Tuxedo?
The main detail that separates a tux from a regular suit is the satin details, such as satin-faced lapels, satin buttons, and a satin side-stripe down on the pant leg. What you need to look after when picking a tux. The color, the fit, and your accessories. A tuxedo is probably the most elegant attire option you can choose for any event, that’s why you need to keep your accessories to the absolute minimum. Put on a simple bowtie and your classiest wristwatch – smartwatches are not an option right now.

What is the difference between Single and Double-Breasted Suits?
According to Wikipedia, a single-breasted garment is a coat, jacket, vest, or similar item having one column of buttons and a narrow overlap of fabric. In contrast, a double-breasted one has a wider overlap and two parallel rows of buttons. Both variants are equally formal and can look just as stylish. It is only a matter of deciding which one you will pick.

Now that we understand the different suit options, let’s talk about the main topic of the article, finding the perfect color option or color combination.
The Right Prom Suit Colors
As mentioned in the beginning, if you got the fit and style right, now comes the last and probably most important aspect – the color. The color of your suit will make or break your look. You need to look out for the time of the event, the place of the event, and your personality to make the best decision. For example, if you have lighter skin and green eyes, a green tuxedo or suit can be an excellent choice. However, if you are looking for a safe choice, pick a navy suit, and you’ll be able to use the suit at any time afterward.

Navy Tuxedo or Suit
As I stated many times, one of the safest choices when picking your suit is the navy suit. It is formal and timeless at the same time. The navy blue suit will go with probably every shirt and tie combination you can imagine. Of course, with a few exceptions.

Gray Tuxedo or Suit
A second safe choice after the navy blue is a gray suit. The gray suit is another suit color that could be fun and professional at the same time. It all depends on the accessories and how you wear them. When the prom is over, pair it with a plain white shirt and a dark tie, and it will be perfect for the office.

White Tuxedo or Suit
Now onto the more extravagant options. A white suit can feel intimidating for many, but if you like to stand out from the crowd with your attire, then this will be the right fit for you. If you’d like to wear this color but are not sure you’d wear it after the prom, try to find a place where you can rent from. If you buy it, there will definitely be a few places in your life where you can wear it, but the office is none of that.

Green Suit
And the final color option is green. It is a unique color that could compliment you if you are confident enough to pick this suit.
